MDA Space announced a $620 million all-cash acquisition of Blue Canyon Technologies LLC, a U.S.-based spacecraft and satellite component manufacturer currently owned by RTX. The transaction, valued at C$874 million in Canadian dollars, represents a significant expansion of MDA's capabilities in the satellite and space infrastructure sector.
Blue Canyon Technologies manufactures spacecraft and satellite components, providing MDA Space with additional manufacturing capacity and technical expertise in a market experiencing strong demand from both commercial and defense customers. RTX, the aerospace and defense conglomerate formerly known as Raytheon Technologies, is divesting the business as part of ongoing portfolio optimization.
