Seedcamp closed its seventh fund at $220 million and a second select fund at $100 million, bringing the European seed investor's total assets under management to $1 billion. The firm, founded in 2007 with an initial fund of $3 million, has invested in approximately 550 companies over nearly two decades.
Managing partner Carlos Espinal and select fund head Hilary Howe will deploy the capital across 35 new companies per year, totaling 100 to 120 investments from the new fund. Seedcamp will provide initial checks up to $1.3 million and lead roughly 70 percent of those deals, targeting 5 to 10 percent ownership stakes. The firm reserves 40 percent of its capital for follow-on investments in seed and Series A rounds, while the select fund will back portfolio companies from Series B onward.
