JetBlue Doubles Down on Fort Lauderdale With Lounge and International Push
The carrier is betting that a refreshed South Florida hub can stabilize margins as it retreats from underperforming routes elsewhere.
JetBlue is pouring fresh capital into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, opening a new airline lounge and expanding international service from the South Florida gateway as part of a broader turnaround plan.
The strategy reflects a narrower JetBlue. After the collapse of its proposed Spirit Airlines merger and a stretch of disappointing earnings, the carrier has been pruning unprofitable routes and concentrating resources on cities where it already has scale. Fort Lauderdale, where JetBlue is the largest operator, fits squarely into that map.
